The culinary world is in full swing, but not always accessible. That's why our chefs invite you to the Low Food Festival. What are their secret ingredients? How do they make a difference on the plate? And which international chefs are they inspired by? You will find out at the Low Food Festival. Whether you like to visit restaurants, challenge yourself with cooking or especially fanatically watch cooking series. It's three days of enjoyment for everyone.

Mexican by Mexicans
Omar, former chef of Coba Taqueria and FC Hyena, met Karla, the founder of Tortilleria Taiyari, because of their shared quest for authentic tortillas. From this meeting a culinary star duo was born! During this cooking show, they will take you on a journey through their Mexican heritage and the dishes they love so much.

Gathering all solo cooks and singles! Cookbook author, columnist and presenter Emma de Thouars teaches you how to out do yourself culinarily when you have the empire on your own. Without ever having to throw away half a pointed cabbage or bag of spinach again.

Surf & Turf with Giel Kaagman
For chef Giel of Kaagman & Kortekaas restaurant, everything from the land and sea is an option for the plate. During the live show, he makes a bold, local surf & turf. He also shares his philosophy and his secrets for masterful sauces. Pens ready, then.

Tartare of Harder à la Donovan
Creative chef Donovan Kraag takes you off the deep end with mullet. Just out of the North Sea and ideal for a fresh tartare. Presented as a complete flavor symphony that includes spinach chiffonade. Slide on over and soon blow your own guests away.

Food Styling - The Salad Edition (English spoken)
Ajda Mehmet is a London-based chef, food stylist and author. This is the time to discover what "a day in the life of a food stylist" really looks like. Ajda Mehmet shares her tips and tricks for creating a beautiful-looking plate of food.

Gnocchi á la Vanja
With her latest cookbook Italopop, chef Vanja van der Leeden shows that her roots are also in Italy. In this workshop, she teaches you all about gnocchi: the best potatoes, the perfect pillows and topped with a spicy sauce with a crispy topping. Delizioso!

Steamed momos (Indian dumplings)
Paulami Joshi grew up in Mumbai and now does everything she can to share her love of Indian cuisine share. In the workshop, you'll make steamed momos: a variation on dumplings with a spicy vegetable filling and a sticky chutney. Richly garnished with stories about India.

Especially Chocolatemakers' chocolates. Marije Guillaumond and Amber Entius of Chocolatemakers are coming to our festival to induct you into the guild of chocolate tasters. Includes three bars of your choice to take home and continue tasting at home.

And yep, you'll go home with your own unique, personal blend of spices.

On Saturday, September 7, Wils restaurant will be transformed into a burger joint for one day! Take the elevator to the third floor for comfort food from the star kitchen of Wils. Join us all day long for homemade burgers and delicious flatbreads. Walk-in and enjoy some culinary comfort food!

Below you will find answers to the most common questions surrounding the Low Food Festival. If you do not find the answer to your question here, do not hesitate to contact us. The Low Food Festival team is ready to help you. 

  • You can send us an email at [email protected]. We are also active on Instagram, there you can contact us directly @lowfoodfestival.

  • The festival including the food market is free to visit. However, separate tickets are required for specific activities such as cooking workshops, cooking shows and food tours. At Wils Bakery Café and Wils Restaurant you can just walk in. But don't forget to make reservations if you want a seat at the table for dinner, drinks or lunch.

  • There is ongoing programming for children that is free to attend. The food tours, which are also definitely suitable for children (accompanied by an adult) do require a ticket. The workshops, cooking shows and tastings are geared toward adults.

  • Yes, tickets can also be purchased locally if they are still available. However, to avoid disappointment, we do recommend that you check online in advance to see if tickets are still available.

  • No, there is no need to change the name on a ticket. As long as the ticket's barcode or QR code is unique and easily readable, the name does not matter.
