Move Amsterdam — The building was designed by Jan Wils, also the designer of the nearby Olympic Stadium
Architect Jan Wils designed the building of Move Amsterdam in 1931. He was also the mastermind behind the architecture of the Olympic Stadium and ensured that the Olympic Fire made its reappearance at the 1928 Olympic Games.
Jan Wils, like Piet Mondriaan and Gerrit Rietveld, was part of De Stijl. This Dutch art movement wanted to return to the essence. Only what, according to them, was really necessary was used. Abstract forms, straight lines and bright colors were central to this. The harmony can be recognized in the design of Move Amsterdam and his name is honored in Wils restaurant.
