Grachtenfestival 2026
From August 7 to 16, the 29th edition of the Grachtenfestival takes place. With 150 concerts in all districts of Amsterdam, young talent in classical music and jazz truly gets a stage in every corner of the city - from a city park in Zuidoost to an allotment garden in Nieuw-West.
Move Amsterdam is one of the guest locations this year. With a concert on Friday, August 14: Woodcraft, and on Sunday, August 16 as part of the Junior Grachtenfestival: Tappin-it.
Tickets for Woodcraft and questions via grachtenfestival.nl
Woodcraft is inspired by artists such as Brad Mehldau, Herbie Hancock, Turtle Island Quartet and composers like Stravinsky and Shostakovich. This results in original compositions where diverse styles and forms merge into adventurous musical stories, with each member bringing their own musical voice. In the unique setting of MOVE Amsterdam, Woodcraft presents new music.
Founded in 2017, Woodcraft is one of the most promising string ensembles in the Netherlands. This boundary-pushing ensemble combines jazz, groove, improvisation, and vocals, giving violin, viola, and cello a renewed voice in the contemporary music landscape.
